MEDIATHEQUE / K MAG headquarter

Project of mediatheque and headquarter of polish magazine K MAG

K MAG is magazine dedicated to all things related to fashion, design, movie, photography, music and art, so is mediatheque located in the building.

Building is located on the Książęca street, in the city center of Warsaw. The location is special becouse of close neighbourhood of Three Crosses Square from the west, which is a kind of informal fashion district of Warsaw and popular meeting point. From the east site is open to extensive green areas of historical gardens which are now one of the biggest parks in Warsaw.

The main idea of project was to connect all zones of the building, which are K MAG headquarter, media library and public space/forum located on the ground floor, by common element - the "wall" of media library collections, containing magazines, books, movies, recordings and all things related with work of the K MAG magazine. Wall of mediatheque is accessible from all floors.

Second aspect of the idea is visual image of K MAG. Every month, magazine is dedicated to another main topic, so mediatheque is changing every month, presenting collections connected with the topic of magazine. The wall of mediatheque gives different character and tone to whole building every month.

Wall is also some kind of communication through whole building : communication by media, communication magazine with people and communication as move.

It also separates office spaces and reading spaces of library from communication and facility section.

KMAG headquarters was located on the top floors, that staff can create magazine in peace. Magazine also has access to the 'wall' media library where they can upload new materials issued by the magazine.
Mediatheque as a space for users occupies 3 floors, each floor has also access to the wall media library where users can download content and watch different materials or listen to music.
Ground floor is open to the street and create chill zone with cafe and social forum, it is also a space for workshops and discussions.
